I just finished reading "Daddy-Long-Legs" today. This is the second time to read this book. Then please refer my another article in this blog for the book review for it.
I'll write other things here.

Now I'm living in a room of a apartment near my mother's house. She is ninety-two now and visit a day-care center three times a week. Other days that she does n't visit there she lies on a bed or watches her favorite TV programs. When she is in her bed she is reading newspaper or her favorite two books. One book is a Japanese author's book and another is, guess what, "Daddy-Long-Legs". She read both again and again. She likes them very much.

It is n't a English book, of course. It was translated in Japanese. The book looks like very old. It's might be a appendix of a kind of girl's book. And Japanese used in the book is n't nowadays Japanese, but old fashioned Japanese. She is keeping it from her school ages. She said she was a bookworm like reading books under bed cover. Then she was getting nearsighted from her early age.

Recently, she says she is disappointed because she can n't any thing now. But she looks she enjoys her remaining life.

P.S. I used many "n't" separated from other words. Because it used in "Daddy-Long-Legs". I don't know if it was correct, since I heard Jean Webster (author of the book) was a eccentric speller in her college ages.

Happy Reading!
Mr. Knipe worked for a electric company as a engineer. And his company just finished a big project. They made a enormous electrical computing machine that might be fastest in the world. After the project he took few week holidays. In this moment he restarted writing his own novel. But this was not going well. Suddenly he had a idea. He thought about the computing machine. He guessed it might be possible that the computing machine wrote novels. Then his challenging had been started.

This book has this first story and other 12 stories written by Roald Dahl.
When I read this first story I’m surprised at Dahl’s imagination ability. This story had written at 1954. There might be a electrical computing machine in that time. But it would be not popular. But he might imagine what would be done with the machine. So he probably got the idea of this story, I think.
I found this book at the library of my city. I thought a moment if I borrow it because this book was fat. Actually it has over 250 pages. But it includes 13 short stories. Every story has 5 to 34 pages. A short story is easier to read than a long story of course. I took long period for finishing the book.
When I looked at Amazon Japan site there is the renewal version and a Kindle version. Black cover is the renewal version.
Then, Happy Reading!

A boy wants to find something. So he becomes a
shepherd. He is traveling among villages in Spain with his sheep.
One night he have a dream about Pyramid. Some one says treasure is there. He thinks he must go Egypt.
Can he find his treasure?
This book has about 40,000 words.

I read this book two weeks ago.
This book is easier than Harry Potter book one.
You can read this book if you can read Harry Potter.
If you cannot understand some ideas in this book, that is no problem. You can read later again with better understanding.
This is a story about a boy who travels Egypt to find his Personal Legend, or treasure.
But the theme of this book isn't adventure, but some spiritual inspirations. I minded what is my Personal Legend and am I doing what I really want to do as I was reading this book. It is no wonder that this book is placed on shelves with other spiritual books in many book stores in Europe.
But the ideas in this book don't depend on any religions, or depend on all religions. Then I recommend this book for everyone, especially who lost his/her target of life.

The Sky Is Falling The Sky Is Falling
Sidney Sheldon (2001/07)
Warner Books Inc

This is the first Sidney Sheldon's book for me. And I began to read this book at last Friday because he had died. This book is recommended as the first grownup's paperback among our friends because it is easy to read and fun. And now I realize it is true. The book is easier than Harry Potter volume one. Sidney Sheldon use easy words and short sentences. But he give us enough information to image characters in the book. It may be because he used be a famous play writer. And things happen quickly. In the first three quarters things happened as I expected. But the last quarter many things that I couldn't imagine happened. This might be a talent of this author.
I enjoyed the book very much. In fact I had read the book in eight days. It is the shortest period for this sort of fat books, not fastest reading speed, for me.
I want to read other Sidney Sheldon's books soon.

Jean Louise Finch tells us a story what had happened around her in her childhood at a small country town in Alabama. The story begin at the time when she was almost six-year old and gets into the first grade of a school. And the story lasts till the fall in her third grade.
This book has two parts. In the part one she tells us about her family, her father, Atticus, her elder brother, Jem, and her neighbors. Also something starts in the part one. Then it becomes a main thing in the part two. Many things happen related it and many people appear.
This book has about 100,000 words.

One of my friends in US recommended reading this book just after she had read it. Then I started reading it at last summer. It took long time to finish the book because I took a rest after finishing the part one and read other books. But I finished it about a half month ago. Some parts of the book are difficult to get imagines for me because of difficult words or backgrounds of the story. But I could read the last fifty pages in two days. The reasons why are that I might be getting familiar with the style of statements and a climax is usually the most fun part of a book.
The theme of the book might be the inside of hearts of people who lived a society that most white people hate black people. But why a person don't like others and sometimes treats them badly beyond his/her common sense is also one of themes of the book, I think. The author may try to show us these kinds of problems using children's eyes.
I also recommend reading this book as well as my friend. And think about the relationship with others.
There is no doubt that the novel received Pulitzer prize.
The book appeared 1960 and turned into film later.
